e. Lungs, kidneys and skin form the excretory system. T

f. Plants respire through xylem and phloem. F

g. Carnivores eat plants and herbivores eat carnivore. F

h. Microbes convert dead and decayed matters into simple form. T

3. Choose the correct answer.

a. Nutrition is the process of consuming food for energy. (Nutrition/Respiration/Digestion)

b. Oxygen helps in the combustion of food to release energy. (Oxygen/Carbon dioxide/Water vapour)

c. Plant do not need oxygen (oxygen/carbon dioxide/water) for photosynthesis.

d. Phloem transports food materials from leaves to different parts of the plant. (Xylem/Phloem/Root)

e. Mucus is a waste material of our body. (Mucus/Blood/Oxygen)

5. Define the following terms.

a. Life processesf. Reproduction
b. Nutritiong. Autotrophs
c. Respirationh. Heterotrophs
d. Internal transportationi. Saprophytes
e. Excretionj. Parasites
a. Life process:- The important living activities performed in living organisms are called life process.
#What do you mean by Life process?

b. Nutrition:- The process of consuming food to get energy is called nutrition.
#What do you mean by Nutrition?

c. Respiration:- The process of breaking down of food materials into simpler food materials with the release of energy is called respiration.
#What do you mean by Respiration?

d. Internal Transportation:- The process of supplying food to each and every parts of the body is called internal transportation.
#What do you mean by Internal Transportation?

e. Excretion:- The process of removing waste materials our from the body is called excretion.
#What do you mean by excretion?

f. Reproduction:- The process of producing their own kinds is called reproduction.
#What do you mean by reproduction?

g. Autotrophs:- The organisms which can make their food themselves are called autotrophs.
#What do you mean by autotrophs?

h. Heterotrophs:- The organisms which depend on plants and other animals for food are called heterotrophs.
#What do you mean by heterotrophs?

i. Saprophyte:- Those plants that live on dead organisms and get their food from them are called saprophyte.
#What do you mean by Saprophyte?

j. Parasites:- Those plants and animals that live on other living organisms and get their food from them are called parasites.
#What do you mean by Parasites?

6. Give reasons.

a. Why is a mushroom saphrophyte?

Answer: Mushroom is a saprophyte because it lives on dead organisms and get food from them.

b. Why is tiger a carnivore?

Answer: A tiger is a carnivore because it eats flesh of other animals.

c. Why do we need internal transportation?

Answer: We need internal transportation to supply food, oxygen, blood and other necessary materials to all the parts of our body.
Or,
We need internal transportation because each and every parts of our body needs energy to live.

d. Why can not plants survive if there is no carbon dioxide?

Answer: Plants can not survive if there is no carbon dioxide because plants can not prepare their own food without carbon dioxide.

7. Answer the following questions.

a. How is carbon dioxide obtained by plants?

Answer: Carbon dioxide is obtained by plants from the atmosphere (by animals) through the small pore called stomata of the leaves.

Plants take carbon dioxide and throw oxygen through the leaves.

b. What are the things needed by plants to prepare food?

Answer: Carbon dioxide, sunlight and water are the things needed by the plants to prepare food.

c. What are the four life processes in living things?

Answer: The four life process in living things are 1. Respiration, 2. Excretion, 3. Internal Transportation and 4. Nutrition.

d. How do plants depend on animal?

Answer: Plants depend on animals for carbon dioxide and nutrition.

e. How are plants and animals related to each other?

Answer: Plants and animals are related each other by exchanging gases (Carbon dioxide and Oxygen) during respiration and photosynthesis.

f. Why is reproduction necessary?

Answer: Reproduction is necessary for the continuity of life.

g. What is the function of blood in our body?

Answer: The function of blood in our body is to transport food, oxygen and other necessary materials to all parts of the body.
